The Micoadventure: Epic Adventures Without the Epic Hassle
42. Learn About Our Waters
The beautiful waters of the Puget Sound are home to a diverse array of sea life and are home to many fascinating creatures. But usually, we don't get to spend much time with them—after all, we don't breathe water!
That's where the MaST Center comes in. As a working aquarium, marine biology students from Highline College are able to get hands on learning while teaching the public about marine life! Every Saturday, their open house allows you to get up close and personal with sea life.
MaST Center Aquarium
Featuring 11 aquariums, including two touch tanks the Center is the marine science laboratory for Highline College. It also offers a twice monthly speaker series and "Live Dive" on the second Saturday of each month. The MaST Center is dedicated to expanding knowledge about the Puget Sound and the surrounding environment through teaching, outreach, and research. The 2,500 square-foot facility offers public space, classroom, laboratories, offices, research areas with state-of-the-art equipment and an aquarium. The Aquarium holds over 15 tanks totaling approximately 3,000 gallons of flow-through seawater, and displays over 250 native Puget Sound marine species. Public Aquarium Hours: Saturdays 10am-2pm (Year-Round) Thursdays 4pm-7pm (June to August) All events are FREE.
