Explore Seattle Southside Awarded Best Place to Work

After nearly 25 years of tourism promotion, the RTA launched Explore Seattle Southside in 2022 with the goal of rethinking how people travel and of encouraging locals and visitors to discover Seattle Southside’s curiously wonderful region. Achieving this award truly endorses the organization’s commitment to empowering its employees and their shared vision for the region’s future.

The annual Washington's Best Workplaces List goes beyond just office perks and scores how employees feel about the culture, mission and values at their workplace.

On this 2023 achievement, Explore Seattle Southside CEO Mark Everton says, “It’s a real honor to be officially recognized as one of Washington State’s Best Workplaces. I support a talented team of individuals who bring a diverse set of strengths to our organization. While lifting up our community, local businesses, and tourism is always our goal, it’s a point of pride to know that we are simultaneously creating an environment that is being recognized as a culture of empowerment—where everyone’s unique contributions are valued and celebrated collectively.”

The employers on the Best Workplaces List, which recognizes Washington State’s top 100 companies, are determined via an anonymous survey conducted by Quantum Workplace, which is American City Business Journals' national research partner for this program. Explore Seattle Southside was placed into the “Small Companies” category, defined as a company with 10 to 49 employees. In its category, Explore Seattle Southside ranked #25 out of Washington’s Best Places to Work.

The program in a nutshell:

• Companies opt into the nomination program—which includes a fee, but does not guarantee placement on the Lists.
• The Business Journals' national research partner Quantum Workplaces issues surveys that are sent to employees at participating companies, then tabulates the results.
• Employee participation rates vary depending on a company's size and a minimum participation rate must be met to qualify for a List.
• The top 25 scores in each category (small, medium, large and extra large) are verified by the Business Journal.

Explore Seattle Southside (The Seattle Southside Regional Tourism Authority) is the official regional destination marketing organization for Seattle Southside, including the cities of SeaTac, Tukwila and Des Moines. The organization is responsible for competitively marketing the area as an ideal travel destination for leisure and business travelers who wish to explore Western Washington and an idyllic place for meeting and event planners to hold their events. The Seattle Southside RTA is funded by a self-assessed hotel fund.
