Saltwater State Park is an 88-acre marine camping park with 1,445 feet of saltwater shoreline on Puget Sound. It is located halfway between the cities of Tacoma and Seattle. The cities jointly and literally buried a hatchet in the park as a symbol of an end to their mutual competition. This park offers beautiful views and wildlife-watching opportunities and is a favorite for camping, scuba diving, picnics, clamming, hiking and swimming. There are 52 tent and RV campsites total, fire grills, tables, flush toilets, sanitary disposal station, showers and firewood available. Saltwater State Park also provides two kitchen shelters without electricity, plus 147 unsheltered picnic tables. Most picnic sites are near the beach or along McSorley Creek. The kitchen shelters and campsites are reservable by calling the park office at (253) 661-4956.
