Urban Tapri in SeaTac offers a taste of India’s bustling street food culture. This family-owned business, located just minutes from SEA airport, is perfect when you need a quick, hearty bite. Established in 2024, it has quickly built a reputation for cooking up authentic street food favorites, all made fresh in-house. As soon as you walk into the cozy, inviting space, you’re struck by the warm, mouthwatering aroma of spices. Many of the items are beloved abroad but not especially common in the U.S., even at Indian restaurants, so you may find something new to you. From creative takes on vegetarian burgers to unique small bites, you're sure to find something satisfying.
The restaurant is owned and operated by the same family that runs Kanishka Cuisine of India, located inside the Four Points by Sheraton Seattle Airport South hotel. While you'll find the same level of hospitality and quality at both restaurants, the cuisine at Urban Tapri is unique, focused specifically on street food classics.
Need to Know:
Authentic Indian Street Food: The Kathi Roll consists of a paratha (a flaky, layered flatbread) rolled around the filling of your choice. Options include butter chicken and peri peri aloo (potatoes cooked in a spicy, tangy sauce). Or, try a Masala Chicken or Veg Puffs, a large, savory pastry filled with either a spiced chicken mixture or vegetables.
Lots of Vegetarian Options: Many of the items are either inherently vegetarian or can be ordered that way. For instance, there are various burgers that substitute meat for alternatives such as spiced potato cutlets, noodle patties, and grilled paneer (Indian cheese). Another favorite is the Dabeli, a sweet, spicy, and tangy snack made by filling a buttered pav (bread roll) with a potato mixture, chutneys, and garnishes. Or you can try the Vada Pav, a popular dish that consists of a deep-fried potato dumpling inside a bread bun, often with chutneys and green chili pepper.
Specialty Beverages: Enjoy refreshing drinks such as rose milk, mango lassi, and Masala Chaas, a popular Indian beverage made with a tangy and spiced flavor profile.
The Vibe:
Urban Tapri is small but cozy, with a comfortable seating area and plenty of windows for natural light. The vibrant flavors and aromas and friendly service make it an ideal spot for those looking to immerse themselves in the rich culinary culture of India while in Seattle Southside.
