African Community Housing & Development (ACHD) is excited to announce the grand opening of the SeaTac Farmers Market. The inaugural season begins on July 3rd and will operate monthly, on the first Wednesday of each month, through November, from 3pm to 7pm (July 3, Aug. 7, Sept. 4, Oct. 2, & Nov. 6). The market is hosted in the east parking lot of the Matt Griffin YMCA, 3595 S 188th St, SeaTac WA 98188.
Building on the immense success of the Delridge Farmers Market, the SeaTac Farmers Market fosters a vibrant space that supports BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) business owners and ensures access to healthy, fresh food for the SeaTac community. The market features a diverse line-up of vendors offering locally sourced produce, flowers, prepared food from global chefs, artisanal goods, and more.
The market is a program of ACHD, a Black women-led nonprofit serving King County’s African Diaspora. “We’re thrilled to expand our vision of abundance and community service to SeaTac,” said Bilan Aden, Vice President and Co-Founder of ACHD. The SeaTac Farmers Market is committed to addressing food insecurity and promoting health equity. The market provides free produce bags, will accept SNAP/EBT, and doubles the purchasing power of SNAP users with SNAP Market Match. Additionally, every child attending the market will receive a $5 Kid Bucks voucher to spend on nutritious food.
The SeaTac Farmers Market nurtures a space for neighbors to connect and access valuable community resources.
In alignment with their slogan, “center culture and cultivate community,” the market also provides free health and wellness resources such as diapers, personal care products, home cleaning products, and more. ACHD invites everyone to celebrate the market’s grand opening on July 3rd at 3pm. Attendees will enjoy a vibrant, family-friendly, culturally diverse market atmosphere as they kick off the SeaTac Farmers Market’s inaugural season dedicated to health, community, and empowerment.
