Seattle Southside is famous for being a destination filled with activities the whole family will enjoy.

Spring break is the perfect time to take the kids on a vacation (or staycation) and get in some fun. Summer still feels a ways off, but there's plenty of fun both indoors (we know what to do just in case it rains) and out. Here is a list of our favorite spring break activities in Seattle Southside.

1. The Museum of Flight

Foster a love of learning and STEM while exploring super cool exhibits at The Museum of Flight in Tukwila, which holds the world's largest private collection of space and airplanes. See an original Air Force One, shuttle trainers, stealth jets, and so much more. And if you’re worried about it being boring for the kids, don’t be! There are exhibits made specifically for young learners of all abilities. In the "Kids Flight Zone," they can strap into flight harnesses to see what it's like to be a pilot, and sit in cockpits and operate the controls of real helicopters and planes. There's also a wind machine where they can perform experiments, and working models of engines so they can learn how planes are built.

Got a little tot? There's an area that caters to preschoolers, with easy art activities and safe places to play.

Pro tip: Check the museum's Event Calendar before visiting, as there are often special events and activities based on seasonality and holidays.

2. Family Fun Center

You can't beat Family Fun Center when it comes to keeping the entire fam entertained. There’s a perfect mix of indoor and outdoor fun, making it a great place to visit no matter the weather or season. Enjoy an arcade, laser tag, bowling alley, thrill rides, mini-golf, go-karts, batting cages, and so much more! There’s something for everyone here, and the family is guaranteed to have a blast. After everyone has worked up an appetite, you can sit down for a meal at Bullwinkle's Restaurant, which has plenty of kid-friendly options.

3. MaST Center Aquarium

The Marine Science and Technology Center (MaST) in Des Moines, Washington, is a great place for kids to learn about marine life, with more than 250 native Puget Sound aquatic species. Part of Highline College, the center is devoted to education and offers free Discovery Days open to the public on Saturdays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. It also holds fascinating fossils, including a 38-foot-long gray whale skeleton, and friendly staff and volunteers. After your visit, enjoy a lovely stroll down the boardwalk at Redondo Beach, or walk down to the beach to look for interesting shells. You might even spot a porpoise in the distance!

4. Des Moines Beach Park

A local favorite, Des Moines Beach Park is often seen as the quintessential “hidden gem” of Seattle Southside. It’s a lovely park with walking trails, picnic tables, and a huge beach that's great for shell searching. Plus, there’s no better place for sunset along Puget Sound than at the end of the dock at Des Moines Beach Park...except maybe from the Quarterdeck at Des Moines Marina, located next to the park, where the grownups can enjoy a sip of wine to toast the setting sun.

5. Hit the (Bubble Tea) Trail

What's more fun than going out to get bubble tea? Earning fun prizes just for exploring new boba shops! Seattle Southside has so many of them that we created a Bubble Tea Trail so you can find all the best places to try out new flavors and toppings. 6. Sky Zone

Do your kids dream of becoming a gymnast, basketball star, or ninja? Intrigued by videos of people doing parkour? At Sky Zone in Tukwila, you can perform incredible feats like those athletes...with a little help. This large indoor play space has trampolines, foam pits, basketball hoops, obstacle courses, and more, so kids can get all their energy out and parents can feel like a kid again! Climb, jump, and high-five mid-air...the sky's the limit!

7. Bowlero South Seattle

Who doesn’t love a game of bowling? Bowlero is the largest bowling alley in the area, home to 40 state-of-the-art lanes, plenty of billiards and shuffleboard tables, an arcade, a wide variety of hot and delicious food and a full bar. Plus, the lights go out at night on weekends and the lanes turn to a shade of interstellar blue for cosmic bowling!

8. Round1 Bowling & Arcade

Right outside Westfield Southcenter Mall is the epicenter of Japanese entertainment in Seattle Southside. Round 1 has a bowling alley, a sprawling arcade, karaoke, and affordable, kid-friendly food, and beer for the grown-ups. Bowl a round or two, then race the family in a game of Mario Kart! They're especially known for their huge collection of bemani games, Japanese rhythm games similar to Dance Dance Revolution. There are also private karaoke rooms available, where everyone can belt out their favorite songs together.

9. iFLY: Indoor Skydiving

This is one that should be on your bucket list. Indoor skydiving at iFLY combines the sensation of jumping out of an airplane without the need for a parachute! The ten-story vertical wind tunnel takes you to the sky in a safe environment to get that pure adrenaline rush without the fear of anything going wrong. If you think your kids are too young for such an experience (or you’re too old), think again! iFLY caters to ages 3-103.

10. Highline Heritage Museum

The Highline Heritage Museum in Burien is a must-visit destination for curious minds of all ages. This engaging local museum showcases the diverse cultures, industries, and stories that have shaped the region. Visitors can explore a variety of exhibits, including a life-size replica of a Megalonyx (an ancient giant ground sloth) that was uncovered during the construction of the airport, artifacts from the region’s aviation history, and displays highlighting the experiences of immigrant communities. Interactive exhibits, historical photographs, and personal narratives bring the past to life, making the museum a fascinating stop with the fam.
