If you're looking for fun things to do with kids during mid-winter break, Seattle Southside is the place to be.
With tons of kid-friendly restaurants and all-ages attractions, it's an ideal place to bring the family. You could easily spend a few nights or a whole week eating, bowling, jumping, and playing your way through the area, and there are plenty of family-friendly hotels just south of Seattle with indoor pools to keep everyone happy.
Fun at the Mall
Westfield Southcenter Mall is a kid's paradise, with lots of places to shop and play. Jump in a ball pit at Safari Play Space, see a movie at AMC Theater, and explore tons of toy and gaming stores. (See our family-friendly guide to the mall for more ideas).
The mall is also home to plenty of restaurants that are great for bringing the fam, like dumpling empire Din Tai Fung (a hit for all ages) or tropical-themed Bahama Breeze, which has an extensive kid’s menu featuring favs like bowtie mac n’ cheese and chicken tenders. Activities Galore
On the backside of Westfield Southcenter, you’ll find the bowling and gaming megaplex: Round1. This Japanese arcade is all sorts of fun, with a bowling alley, expansive arcade, bar and grill, and even karaoke! The only downside is that kids are never willing to leave when you want to…the trick is to take them to another exciting place like Family Fun Center, where you'll find enough activities to fill an entire day, including arcade games, go-karts, laser tag, batting cages, and more.

Get Fresh Air
If you’re looking to get some fresh air, there are plenty of waterfront parks to explore, including Des Moines Beach Park, Redondo Beach, and Saltwater State Park. The kids will have plenty of space to run around as you comb the beach for shells and enjoy the sights and smells of Puget Sound.
Nearby these waterfront parks is charming downtown Des Moines, where you can grab sandwiches and ice cream at Auntie Irene's and then play retro arcade games at Waterland Arcade.
There’s a great deal of fun to be had (and food to be eaten) in Seattle Southside this time of year. So round up the fam and head on down for a memorable adventure!
