Camp Out
Four Campsites Near Seattle Southside
Looking to go camping near Seattle?
Maybe you're looking for a place to park your RV near the airport? Thankfully there are plenty of options for camping out in the area. Discover how close these back-to-nature campgrounds are to you.
Saltwater State Park is an 88-acre marine camping park with 1,445 feet of saltwater shoreline on Puget Sound. It is located halfway between the cities of Tacoma and Seattle. The cities jointly and literally buried a hatchet in the park as a symbol of an end to their mutual competition. This park offers beautiful views and wildlife-watching opportunities and is a favorite for camping, scuba diving, picnics, clamming, hiking and swimming.
There are 35 tent campsites and 17 RV campsites (maximum length 50 feet with limited availability) for a total of 52 sites, with fire grills, tables, flush toilets, sanitary disposal station, showers and firewood available. Saltwater State Park also provides two kitchen shelters without electricity, plus 147 unsheltered picnic tables. Most picnic sites are near the beach or along McSorley Creek. Reservations are available year round.
Dash Point State Park is a hotspot for skimboarding, which is like a combination of surfing and skateboarding done skimming on the water at low tide. More than that, the park has excellent camping available.
The park has 114 standard campsites, 27 utility campsites, one dump station, four restrooms and six showers. RV hookups are available with a maximum site length of 40 feet (limited availability). Dash Point also features cabins for rent, in case you feel like sleeping in a bunk instead of a tent! Reservations are available year round.
Want to really get away? The only way to get to Blake Island State Park is via boat or kayak - there are no ferry services to this island, so it's personal boats only at this pack-in, pack-out park. Blake Island offers 1,500 feet of moorage dock and 24 mooring buoys, and electrical service is available at the docks for a $6 fee.
The campground has 44 standard sites, three Cascadia Marine Trail sites, one marine dump station, four restrooms (one ADA) and one shower area. Selected campsites are available for reservation May 15 - Sept 15. All other campsites are first come, first served and available year round.
With ties to an out-of-this-world incident, Maury Island Marine Park offers camping along its shoreline with beautiful views of Puget Sound, Des Moines, and the incredible plant life in the area. Get here by taking the ferry from Fauntleroy to Vashon Island, where you can enjoy some gorgeous views. This campground is located on the same place where the Maury Island Incident took place, kicking off the legend of the Men in Black!
This campground offers seven primitive sites and is strictly pack-in, pack-out with fires prohibited. The amenities at this site include use of the picnic shelter, 2 porta-potty bathrooms, picnic tables near the campsites and a kayak/paddleboard storage rack off of the beach trail. There is no water available so please be sure to pack in enough water for your stay. Campsite is available for reservations year-round.
